Located in northern Illinois is a village known as Burr Ridge. The Chicago suburb is positioned in Cook and DuPage counties. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were about 11,000 people living in the village. Burr Ridge is listed among the wealthiest cities in Illinois for 2018.
Original inhabitants of the area Burr Ridge is located in were Sioux, Pottawattamie, Ottawa, and Chippewa Indians. After a treaty in 1835, most of the Indians were relocated west of the Mississippi River which opened the territory for European-American settlers. In the 1950s, much of the land was used for cattle, corn, and beans. However, in 1956 residents of Robert Bartlett’s Estates voted to incorporate. That same year the incorporation was confirmed and the village was named Harvester. Eventually, the name of the village was changed Burr Ridge, the name the village is known under today.
