Located in northeastern Illinois is a small village known as Oak Brook. The affluent Chicago suburb is positioned in DuPage County and extends into Cook County. Oak Brook is one of the smallest communities located in DuPage County. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 8,070 people living in Oak Brook in 2016.

The original inhabitants of the area Oak Brook is located in were Native American Indians. After the defeat of the native peoples in the Black Hawk War, the inhabitants were moved west of the Mississippi River. Many families of European descent moved to the area and constructed homes, established farms, and opened businesses. The influx of new people created a community of individuals and families that would eventually develop as the Village of Oak Brook.
